ABOUT
Maren is an artist and photographer currently based in Salt Lake City, UT. She travels frequently, photographing the beauty she finds along the way, and searching for colors and textures to inspire her paintings.
She graduated magna cum laude from Colorado College in 2024 with a B.A. in Studio Art. During her schooling, she spent a year working as an Artist in Residence with the State of the Rockies Project, focusing primarily on documentary photography and scientific illustration. Her work is featured in multiple outdoor and news publications.
Maren uses her photography as research for her other visual work, which consists mostly of large-scale oil paintings. With these paintings, Maren seeks to reveal the interdependence of lived experience by enveloping her audience in worlds of memory and imagination. She is inspired by the deep connection found in humans' relationships with themselves, with one another, and with the environments–particularly natural environments–in which we live.
